Autonomous Vehicle Technician
Job Overview
We are hiring an Autonomous Vehicle Technician to support deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational readiness of autonomous robotic systems in Houghton, MI. This role focuses on field support, diagnostics, repairs, system integration, and maintaining fleet availability in real-world operational environments.
This position is ideal for candidates with hands-on automotive, robotics, mechanical, electrical, or autonomous vehicle experience who are comfortable operating independently and troubleshooting complex systems in field environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain operational readiness of deployed autonomous systems through inspections, preventative maintenance, and corrective repairs
• Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, and system-level issues in real-world environments
• Serve as the primary technical point of contact during field operations, demonstrations, and deployments
• Support system installation, configuration, integration, and fielding activities
• Track and document maintenance actions, repairs, and system status updates
• Coordinate with engineering and product teams to escalate issues and support root cause analysis
• Support customer demonstrations and operational evaluations
• Manage spare parts, tools, and support equipment to minimize downtime
• Train operators on system usage, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures
• Assist with development of maintenance procedures and troubleshooting documentation
Requirements
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Hands-on mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting experience
• Comfortable using computers, tablets, and diagnostic software tools
• Ability to follow detailed procedures, checklists, and safety protocols
• Strong attention to detail and ability to document issues accurately
• Ability to safely operate vehicles for extended periods
• Ability to lift equipment and work in garage, warehouse, or outdoor environments
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, or overtime when needed
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Autonomous vehicle technician experience
• Experience with robotics, autonomous systems, or field operations
• Experience troubleshooting hardware and software systems
• Experience supporting fleet deployments or operational readiness programs
• Experience working directly with customers or operators in technical environments
