Job Overview
We are hiring a Vehicle Technician to support maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and fleet readiness operations for an autonomous vehicle fleet in Austin, TX. This role focuses on preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair coordination, and supporting daily workshop operations to ensure vehicles are operational and ready for testing and deployment.
This position is ideal for experienced automotive technicians who are comfortable working in fast-paced operational environments and supporting advanced vehicle systems.
 
Key Responsibilities
• Perform high-quality repairs and inspections according to work instructions and document findings in service platforms
• Conduct multi-point inspections and system checks to ensure vehicle safety and reliability
• Perform quality control inspections and testing on completed work
• Configure, maintain, diagnose, and sign off vehicles for safe on-road operation
• Perform diagnostics and escalate complex issues to engineering teams when needed
• Support troubleshooting and validation through diagnostic testing
• Maintain detailed service records and quality field reports
• Assist with parts inventory, storage, and organization
• Maintain shop tools, facilities, and workspaces in safe and operational condition
• Support fleet readiness for testing and deployment activities
• Travel locally as needed to support vehicle setup, maintenance, and operations
 
Requirements
• 5+ years of automotive technician experience
• Extensive knowledge of vehicle systems, diagnostics, repair methods, tools, and materials
• Experience troubleshooting HV systems, hybrid drivetrains, HVAC, chassis, suspension, and cooling systems
• Experience with CAN/LIN systems and embedded vehicle modules
• Ability to troubleshoot Linux-based systems
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in fast-paced environments
• Ability to pass background check, MVR check, and drug screening
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and self-motivated work style
 
Preferred Qualifications
• Technical trade school certification or Associate degree in automotive repair
• ASE certification and/or OEM manufacturer certifications
• Experience supporting autonomous vehicle systems or sensor stacks
• Experience optimizing fleet maintenance operations
• Ability to travel locally and occasionally nationally
 
Schedule
• Monday – Friday: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
