Safety & Risk Operations Manager (Remote, US Only)

Job Overview

We are hiring for a Non-Emergency Medical Transportation company supporting access to care for riders who rely on safe and consistent transportation. This role oversees safety, insurance, compliance, and claims operations across the platform.

This position requires experience managing safety programs, insurance claims, and regulatory compliance in transportation, mobility, logistics, or related operational environments. The role works across operations, legal, and product teams and is responsible for both incident response and ongoing risk reduction.

Key Responsibilities

Safety Operations

• Develop and enforce safety standards for drivers and vehicles across all markets
• Manage safety programs, training, and communications for drivers
• Lead investigations for major incidents and accidents
• Maintain documentation and reporting systems for safety incidents and audits
• Analyze platform data to identify safety risks and behavior trends

Risk & Claims Management

• Oversee insurance and claims processes from reporting through resolution
• Manage relationships with insurance carriers, claims adjusters, and legal counsel
• Analyze claims data to identify root causes and cost drivers
• Support forecasting and financial modeling related to insurance exposure
• Ensure compliance with transportation, insurance, and safety regulations

Compliance & Governance

• Maintain policies and records required by regulators and insurers
• Ensure adherence to internal safety and risk management procedures
• Partner with Legal on background check requirements, insurance minimums, and reporting obligations
• Support audits, inspections, and certification processes

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with Product and Engineering to improve in-app safety features and reporting tools
• Coordinate with Operations and Support teams on incident response protocols
• Work with Legal on contracts, liability exposure, and policy updates
• Report safety, risk, and claims metrics to leadership

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in safety, risk management, compliance, or insurance operations
• Experience in mobility, transportation, logistics, or marketplace operations preferred
• Strong understanding of insurance claims, liability, and risk assessment processes
• Experience building or managing safety and compliance programs
• Ability to analyze data and identify operational risk trends
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in NEMT or healthcare transportation
• Experience in rideshare or marketplace platforms (e.g., Uber, Lyft)
• Experience managing insurance or claims programs for high-volume fleets
• Paralegal certification or JD

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary: $100,000 – $150,000
• Variable bonus: 12% – 30%
