Autonomous Vehicle Support Specialist
Job Overview
We are hiring Autonomous Vehicle Support Specialists to support daily technical operations for an autonomous vehicle fleet in Austin, TX. This role focuses on technical issue intake, troubleshooting support, documentation, escalation, and fleet readiness activities.
This position is ideal for candidates with technical support, IT support, operations support, or help desk experience who want to transition into autonomous vehicle operations and work in a more hands-on environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the first point of contact for technical issues raised by safety drivers and operators
• Process, document, triage, and escalate vehicle and system-related issues
• Use Unix / command line tools to investigate issues and review logs
• Communicate with operators, drivers, and engineering teams to support issue resolution
• Support vehicle dispatch and return processes to maintain fleet readiness
• Perform vehicle startup and shutdown procedures
• Monitor charging status and confirm log uploads
• Perform light hands-on support tasks including reconnecting cables and checking device indicators
• Move vehicles around the garage or operational site as needed
• Help maintain internal workflows, documentation, and support procedures
Requirements
• 1+ year of experience in technical support, IT support, operations support, or similar roles
• Comfortable working in Unix / Linux command line environments daily
• Familiarity with Unix commands such as cd, ls, rm, cp, scp, cat, vim, uptime, and journalctl
• Experience using Slack and ticketing systems such as Jira or YouTrack
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to document and escalate issues clearly and accurately
• Valid driver’s license held for at least 3 years
• Comfortable working around vehicles and onsite operations
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting fleet operations or dispatch environments
• Experience with remote technical support or incident handling
• Familiarity with autonomous vehicles or vehicle systems
• Experience with operational troubleshooting or hardware support
Schedule
Available 5-day work week shifts:
• First Shift: 4:00 AM – 12:00 PM
• Second Shift: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Third Shift: 6:00 PM – 1:00 AM
