Job Overview

A leading autonomous vehicle technology company is hiring Autonomous Vehicle Safety Drivers to support on-road testing and validation of self-driving systems in the Dallas area.

In this role, you will operate autonomous vehicles in real-world environments, ensuring safety, monitoring system performance, and supporting the collection of high-quality testing data. This position is critical to advancing autonomous driving technology while maintaining the highest safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate autonomous vehicles safely and in compliance with all traffic laws
• Monitor vehicle behavior and system performance during autonomous operation
• Remain alert and ready to take control of the vehicle at all times
• Conduct daily vehicle readiness checks and safety inspections
• Collect and submit detailed reports on vehicle performance and driving scenarios
• Interact professionally with engineers, operations leaders, and other stakeholders
• Anticipate and respond quickly to unexpected road conditions, driver behavior, or pedestrian actions
• Maintain focus and remain distraction-free while operating vehicles

Requirements

• Valid U.S. driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving history
• Clean driving record with no DUIs or drug/alcohol-related offenses within the last 5 years
• Experience in roles requiring high driving discipline (autonomous vehicle operator, driving instructor, motorsports, professional driving, or similar)
• Strong knowledge of local traffic laws and safe driving practices
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
• Ability to remain calm, focused, and responsive in high-pressure situations
• Willingness to work in various weather conditions and on different road types
• Strong sense of ownership and responsibility

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience driving autonomous or electric vehicles
• Background in defensive or safety driving
• Certifications in safe driving or defensive driving courses
• Familiarity with vehicle technology and control systems

Schedule

• Primary shift: 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
• Schedule options include:
– Wednesday–Sunday
– Friday–Tuesday
• Full-time (40 hours per week)
• Schedule flexibility required, including potential weekends
• Daily hours may vary between 6:00 AM and 11:00 PM based on operational needs
