Vehicle Technician
Job Overview
In this role, you will support the readiness and reliability of an autonomous ride-hailing fleet by performing maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and fleet reworks within a workshop environment. Your work will directly support engineering, testing, and operational readiness for vehicles used in real-world autonomous programs.
This position is ideal for experienced automotive technicians with strong diagnostic skills who are comfortable working in an engineering-driven environment and collaborating closely with internal teams to maintain high vehicle quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform high-quality repairs, maintenance, and inspections in accordance with work instructions
• Conduct multi-point inspections and system checks to ensure vehicle safety and reliability
• Document all findings, results, and service activity in a specialized service platform
• Inspect and test completed work as a Quality Control (QC) measure before vehicle release
• Support scheduled and preventative maintenance programs
• Perform diagnostics and follow appropriate escalation paths for complex issues
• Coordinate and drive repair processes through completion
• Configure, set up, maintain, diagnose, and sign off vehicles for safe on-road usage
• Travel locally, as needed, to support vehicle setup, maintenance, and validation
• Maintain shop facilities, tools, and equipment in excellent working condition
• Assist with parts and tools inventory, organization, and tracking
• Build a strong internal service experience for engineering teams and business partners
• Follow all safety standards, PPE requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations
Requirements
• Extensive knowledge of methods, techniques, tools, and materials used in automotive maintenance and repair
• 2–4+ years of hands-on automotive technician experience (5+ years preferred for senior-level work)
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
• Clean and excellent driving record
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Reliable, self-motivated, and safety-focused work ethic
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate across technical and operations teams
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in automotive-focused engineering or research environments (e.g., dyno labs, battery labs)
• Knowledge of CAN systems, wiring diagrams, and soldering
• Technical trade school certificate or Associate Degree in automotive repair
• Experience towing vehicle haulers or large trailers
• Ability to travel locally or nationally on occasion
