Job Overview

We are hiring a Robotics Lab Technician to build, maintain, and troubleshoot the hardware and equipment used in robotics data collection operations. This hands-on role supports robot arms, teleoperation devices, VR headsets, cameras, motion-capture sensors, compute systems, custom fixtures, and other lab infrastructure.

This position is ideal for a technician with experience in robotics, hardware prototyping, R&D labs, or fabrication environments who is comfortable working across mechanical systems, electronics, 3D printing, basic software setup, and technical troubleshooting.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble, configure, and maintain robotics data collection stations
• Support robot arms, manipulators, teleoperation devices, VR headsets, cameras, motion-capture sensors, cabling, and compute hardware
• Operate and maintain 3D printers and small fabrication tools
• Produce, post-process, and fit custom parts, fixtures, and jigs
• Diagnose hardware and connectivity issues including sensor dropouts, calibration drift, cable failures, network issues, and mechanical wear
• Perform preventive maintenance and calibration on robots and collection rigs
• Maintain accurate service and maintenance records
• Manage parts, consumables, and spare inventory
• Set up new task environments based on research specifications
• Support pilot testing before new tasks are deployed
• Create and maintain build instructions, wiring diagrams, setup checklists, and troubleshooting guides
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe lab environment

 

Requirements

• 2+ years of hands-on experience in robotics, hardware prototyping, an R&D lab, maker/fabrication shop, or similar technical environment
• Strong experience with 3D printing, including slicing, printer maintenance, material selection, and post-processing
• Experience with basic fabrication tools such as hand tools, drill presses, or laser cutters
• Experience with mechanical assembly and disassembly using drawings or specifications
• Comfortable working with fasteners, mounts, cable routing, and cable management
• Practical electronics experience including soldering, crimping, harnesses, connectors, and multimeter diagnostics
• Strong troubleshooting skills with a methodical approach to identifying and resolving issues
• Comfortable with computer setup, device pairing, drivers, basic networking, and running setup scripts
• Strong organizational skills and attention to lab safety
• Ability to lift up to approximately 50 pounds and stand, kneel, or reach for extended periods
• Comfortable working around moving robotic equipment

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with robot arms or robotic manipulators
• Experience with teleoperation hardware, VR headsets, or motion-capture systems
• Basic CAD experience with Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Onshape, or similar software
• Basic Python or Bash scripting experience
• Comfortable working in a Linux environment
• Experience with camera or sensor calibration
• Experience helping set up a new lab, production line, or technical workspace

• Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM–6:00 PM
