Job Overview

In this role, you will support and maintain complex hardware test platforms used for autonomous vehicle software development. You will play a critical role in ensuring simulation and test infrastructure operates reliably and predictably to support a fast-moving R&D organization.

This position is ideal for a hands-on engineering technician who is comfortable assembling custom hardware, troubleshooting complex systems, and collaborating closely with engineering teams to support hardware-software integration efforts.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Support and track multiple configurations and generations of hardware test platforms for vehicle simulation and software testing
• Assemble custom hardware to enable Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing of software builds
• Build computers using commercially available, off-the-shelf components
• Integrate networking and vehicle system components into server racks
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair test hardware and equipment
• Build cable harnesses based on diagrams and technical drawings
• Work closely with engineering teams to troubleshoot complex hardware and integration issues
• Create, track, and update tickets documenting hardware incidents, changes, and work performed
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams for parts receiving, installs, upgrades, and decommissioning projects
• Occasionally move computer equipment weighing up to 50 pounds with assistance

 

Requirements

• Experience using general shop, automotive, and diagnostic tools (e.g., DMMs, oscilloscopes)
• Hands-on experience building, troubleshooting, and diagnosing computers or similar systems
• Working knowledge of computer hardware and networking fundamentals
• Experience building cable harnesses and managing cable organization
• Strong organizational and documentation skills
• Ability to lift 25–30 pound boxes and perform physical tasks such as bending or crawling when needed
• Comfort working in Linux-based environments and running scripts

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of automotive electrical systems
• Experience with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Jira, Confluence, or similar tools
• Experience working with Linux-based systems beyond basic usage
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field
