Battery Hardware Technician
Job Overview
We are hiring a Battery Hardware Technician to support the development, prototyping, testing, and validation of next-generation battery systems. This hands-on role works closely with hardware engineering teams to build prototype battery packs, execute testing procedures, and support day-to-day battery lab operations.
This position is ideal for technicians with battery pack assembly experience, strong electrical and mechanical skills, and experience working with lithium-ion battery systems in automotive, robotics, aerospace, manufacturing, or R&D environments.
Key Responsibilities
Battery Pack Assembly & Prototyping
• Assemble, modify, and rework prototype battery packs and modules
• Work directly with lithium-ion cells, modules, connectors, wiring harnesses, and PCBs
• Support prototype development and engineering validation activities
• Build battery systems according to engineering specifications and procedures
Welding & Electrical Assembly
• Perform precision resistance welding and spot welding of battery cells
• Execute high-quality soldering of electrical components and busbars
• Assemble and integrate low-voltage (LV) and high-voltage (HV) wiring harnesses and connectors
• Route, terminate, and inspect electrical connections
Testing & Validation
• Perform pressure and vacuum leak testing on sealed battery enclosures
• Conduct continuity checks, insulation testing, and electrical validation procedures
• Set up, monitor, and maintain battery cyclers, environmental chambers, and data logging equipment
• Document test results, anomalies, and observations for engineering teams
Lab Operations & Safety
• Maintain battery lab equipment, tools, and workspaces
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Manage calibration and maintenance of test equipment
• Follow high-voltage and lithium-ion battery safety requirements
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment
Requirements
• 2–3 years of hands-on experience assembling battery packs or working directly with lithium-ion cells
• Experience performing resistance welding, spot welding, and soldering
• Strong ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings
• Experience routing and assembling HV and LV wiring harnesses
• Experience using digital multimeters, insulation testers (Hi-Pot), leak testing equipment, and hand tools
• Strong understanding of lithium-ion battery safety and high-voltage systems
• Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced engineering environment
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Battery Management Systems (BMS)
• PCB troubleshooting, repair, and rework experience
• Experience using battery cyclers such as Chroma or similar equipment
• Familiarity with environmental chambers and battery validation testing
• Basic CAD experience for fixtures and tooling
• Experience in robotics, automotive, aerospace, or other R&D environments
• Experience supporting prototype development and rapid iteration programs
