Job Overview

In this role, you will provide continuous remote monitoring and real-time decision-making support for autonomous vehicles operating without an onboard safety driver. You will play a critical role in ensuring fleet safety, reliability, and operational continuity as autonomous systems transition toward fully driverless deployment.

This position is ideal for candidates with experience in technical support, dispatch, operations, or gaming-style monitoring environments who are calm under pressure, detail-oriented, and comfortable making time-sensitive decisions in a live operations setting.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Actively monitor assigned autonomous vehicles using a Remote Command (RC) interface and multiple camera feeds
• Proactively intervene using system tools when safety or operational risks arise
• Log all interventions and observations in real time using documentation tools (e.g., Notion, Google Sheets)
• Conduct post-trip reviews and identify anomalies or edge cases
• Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) sessions and contribute to the edge-case knowledge base
• Track and report operational metrics and performance trends
• Ensure clean shift handoffs by clearly communicating key context to incoming Shift Leads

 

Requirements

• Experience in technical support, dispatch, or operations (e.g., IT, transportation, logistics, or control room environments)
• Strong decision-making skills under pressure
• High attention to detail with disciplined documentation practices
• Basic understanding of autonomous vehicle systems or a strong willingness to learn
• Ability to remain focused for extended periods while monitoring live systems
• Comfortable working rotating shifts, including weekends
• Willingness to work fully onsite in Austin, TX

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience as a Remote Assistance Operator
• Background with autonomous vehicle companies (e.g., Tesla, Cruise, or similar)
• Video gaming or simulation-based monitoring experience
• Familiarity with geolocation tools or Remote Command (RC) interfaces
• Understanding of perception and planning concepts in autonomous systems
• Experience reviewing logs or working with event-based operational data
