Data Collection Operator
Job Overview
We are hiring Data Collection Operators to perform hands-on robotics data collection and produce high-quality demonstration data used to support the development of advanced robotic systems. In this role, you will complete precise manipulation and motion tasks, operate robotic manipulators through teleoperation interfaces, verify equipment performance, review collected data for quality, and document issues that could impact data collection.
This position is ideal for candidates who are reliable, detail-oriented, comfortable with repetitive physical work, and able to maintain accuracy and focus over extended periods. Experience with robotics, motion capture, VR, manufacturing, warehouse operations, assembly, QA, or other hands-on technical environments is highly relevant.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform manipulation and motion tasks such as assembling, sorting, packing, and handling everyday objects
• Operate robotic manipulators using VR headsets, leader-follower arms, handheld controllers, and other teleoperation interfaces
• Perform daily setup, calibration, and shutdown of assigned data collection stations
• Verify that sensors, cameras, and recording equipment are functioning correctly throughout each session
• Upload, tag, and validate collected data after each session
• Identify and flag failed, low-quality, or out-of-protocol data collection runs
• Document hardware issues, dropped frames, unclear instructions, and other technical problems
• Communicate observations and issues clearly to shift leads and engineering teams
• Participate in protocol reviews and pilot sessions for new tasks
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace
Requirements
• Strong hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness
• Ability to perform repetitive, precise physical tasks for extended periods while maintaining quality
• Ability to learn new physical tasks, equipment, and workflows quickly
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written protocols exactly
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Basic computer skills, including file management, forms, trackers, and simple data-quality checks
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for most of an 8-hour shift
• Ability to occasionally lift up to approximately 35 pounds
• Comfortable wearing VR headsets and body-worn sensors for extended periods
• Reliable, punctual, and comfortable receiving feedback
• Interest in robotics, AI, and high-quality technical work
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with robot teleoperation, robotic manipulators, or humanoid robotics
• Experience with motion-capture or sensor-based data collection
• Familiarity with VR interfaces, game controllers, haptic devices, or motion-tracking systems
• Experience in warehouse, fulfillment, assembly, manufacturing, lab technician, QA, or testing environments
• Experience performing basic hardware or software troubleshooting, including restarting, re-pairing, or recalibrating equipment
