Body Shop Service Technician
Job Overview
We are hiring a Body Shop Service Technician to support and maintain an autonomous electric vehicle fleet in Austin, TX. This role combines automotive service, light-to-moderate body work, and field support to keep vehicles safe, operational, and road-ready.
This position is suited for technicians with hands-on automotive experience who are comfortable performing inspections, minor repairs, and body work, and documenting vehicle condition and damage. Candidates should be able to work with standard automotive tools, follow safety procedures, and operate in a fast-paced service environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Assess and document vehicle damage after road incidents
• Perform minor on-site repairs and coordinate larger repairs with service partners
• Conduct scheduled maintenance and inspections (brakes, fluids, tires, AC, etc.)
• Monitor vehicle condition and report issues before they escalate
• Support field operations including vehicle evacuation and towing coordination
• Transport vehicles for service appointments, repairs, and cleaning
• Maintain shop and fleet readiness, cleanliness, and safety compliance
• Perform light-to-moderate body work including panel alignment, trim and bumper repair or replacement, and exterior component installation
• Complete cosmetic repairs, sanding, surface prep, priming, and touch-up work as needed
• Document all service work, repairs, and damage accurately
Requirements
• Experience in automotive service, body repair, or similar mechanical role
• Experience with panel fitting, trim work, or exterior component installation
• Ability to assess cosmetic vs. structural vehicle damage
• Familiarity with hand and power tools used in automotive and body work
• Ability to perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance tasks
• Valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Ability to lift and move materials and parts (up to 50 lbs)
• Strong attention to detail and ability to document work clearly
• Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working on electric vehicles
• Background in dealership service, fleet maintenance, or manufacturing environments
• Welding, paint, or refinishing experience
• Experience with diagnostics or troubleshooting vehicle systems
