Autonomous Vehicle Attendant

Job Overview

In this role, you will serve as the real-time, in-person point of contact for employee riders at designated autonomous shuttle pickup and drop-off locations in Foster City, CA. You will play a key role in ensuring a safe, organized, and positive rider experience during daily shuttle operations.

This position is ideal for customer-focused professionals who are calm under pressure, highly empathetic, and comfortable managing light crowd control and service disruptions in a fast-paced, public-facing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet riders and provide a warm, welcoming, and professional experience
• Authenticate riders using badge scanning systems
• Hail autonomous shuttle vehicles between designated locations
• Communicate service status updates to riders clearly and accurately
• Coordinate with cross-functional operations teams via internal communication tools
• Perform light crowd control to ensure orderly boarding and rider flow
• Assist riders with next steps during service disruptions or emergency situations
• Uphold a safety-centric, inclusive, and open-communication culture at all times

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in customer service, retail, hospitality, or another customer-facing role
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong customer-first mindset with patience and empathy
• Ability to follow protocols accurately and maintain attention to detail
• Proactive and resourceful approach to problem-solving
• Comfortable working in high-traffic, public-facing environments
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods outdoors
• Ability to lift and carry moderate loads as needed
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including potential weekends

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in high-stress or fast-paced environments
• Familiarity with de-escalation techniques
• Background in transportation, mobility services, or event operations
• Experience coordinating with multiple teams in real time
