Master Technician Autonomous Vehicle
Job Overview
We are hiring a senior-level Master Technician to perform advanced mechanical, electrical, and high-voltage repairs across electric and autonomous vehicle platforms. This role requires deep EV system expertise, advanced diagnostics capability, and the ability to lead complex repairs while mentoring other technicians.
The Master Technician serves as a technical lead on high-voltage systems, module-level repairs, firmware updates, system calibrations, and advanced driveline and chassis work. This position requires strong safety discipline, documentation standards, and the ability to operate independently in a fleet environment.
Key Responsibilities
Advanced Mechanical Systems
• Diagnose and repair complex mechanical systems including HVAC, chassis, suspension, and steering components
• Troubleshoot NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) issues using structured diagnostic processes
• Perform advanced repairs including subframe and drive unit replacements
Electrical & High-Voltage Systems
• Diagnose and repair low-voltage and high-voltage systems
• Perform HV battery swaps, interlock loop diagnostics, and BMS fault code analysis
• Execute HV safety lockout/tagout procedures and LV/HV isolation
• Replace high-voltage components such as onboard chargers and charge ports
• Perform advanced harness repairs at the cable, pigtail, and connector level
Diagnostics, Software & Firmware
• Perform advanced diagnostics across control modules (CAN/LIN and Ethernet networks)
• Troubleshoot moderate software and firmware issues using OEM diagnostic tools
• Perform firmware updates and validate system functionality
Calibrations & Integration
• Conduct system calibrations following repairs or module replacement
• Support ADAS-related calibration procedures
• Verify vehicle readiness through post-repair validation testing
Thermal & Battery Systems
• Perform coolant evacuation and refill procedures for battery and power electronics systems
• Diagnose cooling system issues affecting batteries and HVAC
• Monitor battery degradation and manage HV battery discharge safely
Requirements
• Minimum 5 years of automotive service experience
• Minimum 3 years of EV system experience
• Demonstrated experience with high-voltage diagnostics and module replacement
• Strong knowledge of battery management systems and network communications (CAN/LIN, Ethernet)
• Experience with advanced system troubleshooting and calibration processes
• Ability to work independently with strong safety and documentation standards
• Experience mentoring or leading other technicians
Preferred Qualifications
• ASE certifications (6+ of A1–A8 preferred)
• Technical degree or advanced coursework in electrical or mechanical engineering
• Experience with OEM diagnostic platforms and software-driven repair processes
